However, magic spell economic reasons were intelligibly historic in the northern victory, semi policy- reservation factors, withal contend a city manager utilisation. Jefferson Davis, prexy of the Confederate States of America, face up ii challenges one was to chip a war against the north and the second, to create a vernal nation. then the south itself truism themselfeves in a dreadful position for armed combat a war, because they had to commission about to outstanding things at the equivalent(p) time, and in any case they werent tack together to excite a war with another rural like USA. Therefore, the leave out of governmental organization, from the south, regarding to powers, was as well as an authoritative issue, as the north was staggeringly superior, and had a better, and to a greater extent than organise political structure. As a sequel, the north fought a bodied war, darn the south fluid had problems internally. likewise cooperator tenet of states propereousnesss alter the south as it created political disunity in the conspiracy. electric chair Jefferson Davis, had to struggle with states governors, like Joe Brown, from atomic number 31 or Zebulon Vance, from sum Carolina, to get selective service approved, and even for prefatorial military supplies. This disunity meant that the eastern and western fronts fought for resources, as most went to the east art object the war was deep in public opinion(p) in the west.Firstly, this shows that states from the south did no believe they were liberation to take in the war, as they started to withheld supplies to accommodate their own area, and this need to yoke victory, as they were separated, therefore, this didnt just meant that they where more under attack(predicate) as they were disunity, however exce ssively that they were weaker as states did not work together, each other to support the north. Therefore the substance, motto the isolation of the southern states, and took advantage of it by struggle from different points, peculiarly the west, and in the end penetrate in this way done the mating/south frontier, into the compacts heart. Moreover, the role of strange powers during the war was of main importance. Since the very begin of the war, the meat light upon it exonerate that perception of the cabal meant war to the Unites States. As a resolving, no nation establish any diplomat formally to the conspiracy this meant that they received no diplomatical cognizance. This was crucial, and one of the main aims of the northbound, because recognition to the south meant, a lot of income due to the cotton industry, and also weapons and machines to excite the war.Although the colligation relied on its blockade to see to it victory, if the fusion achieved recog nition from Britain and France, this would pick out been untold more difficult. Therefore, the fact that the CSA was not a recognize country in the beginning war, fabricate things much more easier to the joint, as this centerfield no international living, and they were now dislocated, all the way display that they had no chances of seduceing the war without outer care. Therefore this created conditions for the heart and soul to win the war, as the fact that cotton trade was deprivation down, and the unless had one factory in the all in all confederacy, brand it clear that, they werent able to make it on their own, so the north clear overwhelmed the south, as they had many factories to produce weapons, dress and so forth and also the clog of European forces who sell weapons and machines to them thats wherefore, it is so chief(prenominal) that the CSA did not had a government, and a reason, of why they were so speed up to wrick a nation. From the start of the w ar that capital of Nebraska had a problem, which was how to unite the north-central sufficiently to make them regard to bout and aliment fighting. He requisite an initiative, something that would control the northerners a reason to fight for. unitary way of doing this was by dint of struggle thrall , and if we go back, some historic period in the lead the war we could see that these really go passel (Uncles turkey cock Cabin), and although the civil war began over the onanism of the South, and not over slavery, it was a fact which grew tensions among the kernel and CSA before the war.capital of Nebraska had to keep until Yankee opinion was ready for the announcement of emancipation, where slaves would be set free. John Wycliffe Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

John Wycliffe - Essay ExampleUntil recently the importance of Wycliffes teachings and ideas for England that was experiencing critical times at his day has been widely neglected. The common view is that Wycliffes legacy exerted certain influence on the Reformist movement only a century after his death, dapple his impact on theology, social life, philosophy and politics of the 14th century England does not receive appropriate attention. The fact is that Wycliffe was involved in a flesh of happenings in philosophy, science and theology that occurred in his day. These happenings laid foundation to the subsequent flowering of science, art, and literature known as the Renaissance, and Wycliffes contribution to these developments deserves to be studied much deeply and systematically.Although Wycliffe as a priest supported the idea of a papacy for most of his life, his late views of the church were rather close to the doctrines of contemporary religious institutions. Thus, he considered the church to be the congregation of the predestined, believed in the priesthood of all believers and rejected the traditional doctrine that the clergy were synonymous to the church claiming they were also laymen as any other(a) believer (Parker, 1965 36). Moreover, Wycliffe also argued that popes can make mistakes and take wrong decisions because only God is flawless, while even the most righteous pope is also a layman (McLaughlin, 2000 4). These challenging views found their reflections in the doctrines of lordship, dominium and the state of grace formulated by Wycliffe during the political phase of his c atomic number 18er. The doctrine of Dominium postulates that man had had full lordship over the solid ground before the Fall, and Christ restored it through his death on the cross. However, he restored the lordship not to the clergy alone the lordship is restored to all the believers whom truly shared the passion of Christ. The entailing conclusion that those who share are in a state of grace and thus have lordship over the world undermined the lordship of clergy and church greatly. The assumption that the origin of lordship and authority was truth coupled with the predilection that even popes make mistakes led Wycliffe to conclude that if the church takes bad wrong decisions, its authority vanishes. The real danger of such views for the church became apparent when John of Gaunt, a civil leader, seized the temporalities based upon Wycliffes doctrine that If the church fail in its duty, the temporal lords may rightly and lawfully deprive it of its temporal possessions the judgment of such unsuccessful person lying not with the theologian but with the civil politician (Poole cited in McLaughlin, 2000 5).Wycliffes attitude to the concepts of forgiveness and redemption also contradicted the established doctrine of the church. He claimed that salvation could be achieved only by sincere faith Trust wholly in Christ rely altogether on his sufferings beware of seeking to be justified in any other way than by his righteousness. Faith in our Lord Jesus Christ is sufficient for salvation (McLaughlin, 2000 5). Wycliffe questioned the concepts of confession and disapproved of the recital of selling indulgences and other

Feminist Therapy and Post-modern Approaches Essay Example for Free

Feminist Therapy and Post-modern Approaches EssayFeminist therapy (FT) arose in the 1960s as a result of womens diverge magnitude awareness that discrimination resides in the way traditional psychology views female mental wellness. It was an attempt to invoke womens autonomy and it was based on the integrating of psychology and feminist theory. According to this theory, women form their identity through a perspective of constantly providing care for others at the expense of their own light forget and initiative. This view represents the traditional gender role, which is not biologic solelyy determined but rather companionablely derived. FT emphasizes the principle of equality in all aspects of man experience. Its major tenet is that psychological difficulties arise from political and social causes, namely discriminative attitudes not only towards females but also towards ethnic, cultural, religious and sexual minorities (Landrine, 1995 Worell, 1997). FT attempts to provi de care through a novel perspective which respects the patients wishes and needs instead of rigidly meeting societal expectations harmonize to existing racial and sexist stereotypes. The thickening holds a central place in the treatment setting, and is encouraged to take initiative and guide the therapeutic process. The therapist is not viewed as an authority but as an equal partner, whose task is to educate and em index number the patient. Therapists aim at demystifying the process of therapy in order to enhance clients sense of power and self-efficacy. In addition, they are particularly careful at avoiding power display in the therapy setting and may frequently use self-disclosure to regain equality and reciprocity in the therapeutic relationship (Worell, 1997).FT supports the idea that the client knows better than allone what is best for him/her. Its main aim is to increase peoples awareness of internalized stereotypes and replace them with more realistic beliefs, to elaborate on issues of control and power and how they affect human experience and to enhance independent decision-making. Apart from gaining self-awareness and free choice, clients are also encouraged to actively participate in political and social groups, given that personal experiences are considered deeply political and personal maturation can arise only through social change (Landrine, 1995 Worell, 1997).The vast majority of feminist therapists and clients are women. However, it is a theory that hopes to address issues concerning both genders, ignoring any societal and cultural bias. The principles of FT are fruitfully applied in the field of physical and sexual abuse, eating disorders, body image distortions and issues of somatic health and reproduction. Commonly used techniques take on gender-role analysis and intervention, power analysis and intervention, bibliotherapy, assertiveness training and self-disclosure (Landrine 1995, Worell, 1997).FT has provided new insights on managing mental health issues through a social and cultural perspective. It has fought prejudice in the practice of psychology, by adopting an egalitarian approach, regardless of gender, race, religious affiliation or sexual orientation and it has focused on the clients individual needs, strengths and wishes. The therapeutic context enhances collaboration and reciprocity and individuals are encouraged to become active members of their society in order to produce change. However, when placing too some(prenominal) value on cultural and social causes of mental disorders, there is the risk of ignoring the significance of personal factors and intrapsychic phenomena. When all psychological difficulties are considered to stem from the abuse of power and the effect of social prejudice and discrimination, then the individual fails to assume responsibility for his/her experience. In this way, true personal evolution may be sacrificed for the sake of social activism. In addition, the collaborative natu re of the therapeutic process and the misuse of self-disclosure by feminist therapists may abolish professional and ethical boundaries and further damage the clients touchy psyche. Finally, this approach may prove extremely frustrating for people and cultures that place great emphasis on traditional societal roles. Post-modern Approaches Post-modern Approaches (PMA) evolved through the influence of post-modernism on the theory and practice of psychotherapy. Traditionally, philosophy and science have been dedicated to the conquest of the absolute truth.Post-modernism suggests that there is no such thing as objectivity and human beings is constructed through language. In this view, mental illness is considered a social construct, originating from the dominating societal tendency to dichotomize and label all aspects of human experience (Boston, 2000). PMA, which include Solution-Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Social Constructionism, are client-centered. The therapists role i s not to provide authority-driven solutions but to help the client develop a new conference and new interpretation of his/her experience.Contrary to traditional psychotherapeutic views, they do not focus on symptoms and their historical context but on the present and on clients strengths and wishes. Post-modern theories place great value on language as a way of creating reality and consequently as a tool to produce change (Boston, 2000 Walker, 2006). For example, in Solution-Focused Therapy, clients are encouraged to discuss goals for change and means by which this change can be achieved (Gingerich, 2000 Lethem, 2002).Likewise, in Narrative Therapy the explicit description of the presenting problem allows the client to see his/her difficulties as a matter of personal and societal interpretation, distinct from his self-identity, thus contributing to the formulation of a less dysfunctional taradiddle (Boston, 2000). Post-modern Therapy is based on the individuals existing strengt hs and resources. It frequently uses the technique of exceptions by urging clients to contemplate on paradigms where their difficulties were not so prominent. In this way, it empowers clients and provides them with a glance to future change. Another common technique is coping questioning which reveals effective coping strategies already used by the client, when faced with his/her current problems. Problem-free news is also used to address non-problematic domains of the clients experience and enhance his/her sense of self-efficacy and confidence (Gingerich, 2000 Lethem, 2002). PMA have been successfully used in eating disorders, affectionateness abuse and relationships problems.Psychiatric patients, couples, youth and criminal offenders have benefit from their application. Their techniques, which focus on the person and not the diagnostic label, may enhance the therapeutic chemical bond and the development of empathy, both associated with better therapy outcomes (Lethem, 2002). So cial Constructionism which suggests that mental illness is a social construct, a product of medical terminology, has contributed to fighting discrimination and stigma. However, it entails the risk of devaluating all achievements in the field of psychiatric research. In addition, the abolishment of the therapists authority may for some individuals produce a sense of insecurity and confusion. Finally, some other major disadvantage is that the efficacy of Post-modern Therapy is hard to be scientifically evaluated. Both FT and PMA have challenged traditional views including the classical Christian axioms (Arlandson, 2010). Nevertheless, their emphasis on equality, authorisation hope and motivation for change, seems to be in agreement with the spirit of the Bibles teachings. To my opinion, counsellors should take into consideration their clients needs, strengths and aspirations as both FT and PMA dictate. To be effective, the counselor-at-law process must focus on the present and the fu ture instead of trying to unravel mysteries of the distal past. Although most clients come to therapy with certain difficulties, a operative therapeutic force regardless of the counsellors theoretical background is the development of an empathetic alliance which can provide a sense of self-efficacy to the client and hope for the future.References Landrine, H.
